One of Us is a London based studio founded in 2006 by co-directors Tom Debenham, Dominic Parker and Rachael Penfold with Matthew Bristowe joining the team as Head of Production & Operations in 2016. The company ethos is one of creative intelligence applied through filmmakers' sensibility with a focus on design and collaboration. Working across both film, TV and long form and with experience of all stages of production, from concept through planning, photography and post-production, One of Us has become an essential studio for visual effects and related work. With approved vendor status and continued increasing artist capacity and infrastructure, we are expanding into ever larger scale projects.
Rachael Penfold - Co-founder and Company Director, Rachael began as a runner at CFC and rose to become Head of Production at Framestore. At One Of Us her role encompasses strategy and new business, but she also keeps a creative producer’s eye across all work.
Dominic Parker - Co-founder, Company Director and Creative Director, Dominic has a long history in Visual Effects. He has worked on numerous award winning features and commercials, collaborating with Terrence Malick, the Wachowskis, Alejandro Iñárritu, Ridley Scott, Tim Burton, Guillermo del Toro, Jonathan Glazer, and many others.
Tom Debenham - Co-founder and Company Director, Tom has his roots in painting and photography, but combines this creative bent with engineering nous. Integral to many of the company’s more technically challenging projects, including the development of a camera system for Jonathan Glazer’s Under The Skin, he now works primarily as an independent cinematographer and vfx supervisor.
Matthew Bristowe - Matthew is Head of Production and Operations at One Of Us, bringing two decades of industry experience to this role. He began his career at MPC building a successful DI department. At Prime Focus, as SVP of Production for both VFX and stereo conversion, he was responsible for setting up and leading the division. In 2014 he was honoured by The Advanced imaging and 3D society for his work on the multi award winning Gravity. Matthew brings insight, ideas, strategy, leadership, dependability and a broad experience to the clients and projects he works with.
